Amigurumi Mini Cat Free Pattern

Free Crochet Workshop: Mini Cat in a Wizard Hat by Petit Cutie (@petit_cutie)

In this tutorial, you can crochet a small kitten wearing a wizard hat and scarf. For this amigurumi project, you will need alpaca yarn, such as Drops Alpaca, or similar. Choose a crochet hook size that is most comfortable for you. The hat and scarf are also crocheted with the same yarn. For the face, use small safety eyes. The nose and cheeks are embroidered with any thread of your choice.

Materials and Tools

  • Yarn: Drops Alpaca (for the cat, white for the face, color for the scarf, color for the hat)
  • Crochet hook: Choose your preferred size

  • Embroidery thread for the face
  • Tapestry needle for sewing parts
  • Scissors

Abbreviations

  • KA – Magic ring
  • ch – Chain stitch
  • sc – Single crochet
  • dc – Double crochet
  • hdc – Half double crochet
  • inc – Increase
  • dec – Decrease
  • (…) x n – Repeat n times

Head

  1. Row 1: Ch 9, in the 2nd from hook: 3 sc, 6 sc in ch, 3 sc in one stitch, turn, 6 sc (18)
  2. Rows 2-7: 18 sc (6 rows)
  3. Row 8: Double decrease (3 stitches together), 6 sc x2 (14)
  4. Row 9: Decrease, 5 sc x2 (12)

Stuff the head, close with a slip stitch (sl st), and cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing.

Paws (2 pieces)

  1. Row 1: 7 sc in KA
  2. Rows 2-3: 7 sc (2 rows), for the first paw, cut the yarn, secure and hide the tail. For the second paw, ch 5 and join to the first paw, continue crocheting the body.
  3. Row 4: 7 sc in the first paw, 5 sc in the ch, 7 sc in the second paw, 5 sc (24)
  4. Rows 5-8: 24 sc (4 rows)
  5. Row 9: 2 sc, dec x6 (18)
  6. Rows 10-11: 18 sc (2 rows)
  7. Row 12: 1 sc, dec x6 (12)
  8. Rows 13-14: 12 sc (2 rows)

Make a slip stitch (sl st), cut the yarn, and hide the tail. Stuff the paws.

Face (White Yarn)

  1. Row 1: 6 sc in KA
  2. Row 2: 2 sc, inc x2 (8)

Secure the yarn and cut, leaving a tail for sewing.

Tail

  1. Row 1: 7 sc in KA
  2. Rows 2-7: 7 sc (6 rows)

Secure the yarn and cut, leaving a tail for sewing.

Ears (2 pieces)

  1. Row 1: 4 sc in KA
  2. Row 2: 1 sc, inc x2 (6)
  3. Row 3: 2 sc, inc x2 (8)

Secure the yarn and cut, leaving a tail for sewing.

Arms (2 pieces)

  1. Row 1: 8 sc in KA
  2. Rows 2-7: 8 sc (6 rows)

Secure the yarn and cut, leaving a tail for sewing.

Hat

  1. Row 1: 6 sc in KA
  2. Row 2: 6 sc
  3. Row 3: 1 sc, inc x3 (9)
  4. Rows 4-6: 9 sc (3 rows)
  5. Row 7: 2 sc, inc x3 (12)
  6. Row 8: 3 sc, inc x3 (15)
  7. Row 9: 4 sc, inc x3 (18)
  8. Rows 10-11: 18 sc (2 rows)
  9. Row 12: Work 2 hdc in each st around the front loop only x18 (36)

Secure the yarn and cut, hiding the tail. Sew the top of the hat so that it tilts slightly to the side.

Scarf

Ch 21.

Starting from the second ch from the hook, crochet 20 hdc, secure the yarn. Hide one end and leave the other end to sew the scarf’s ends together on the toy.
