Free Crochet Masterclass: Plush Teddy Bear by Marina Umerova (@my_knitted_toys)

This pattern will guide you in crocheting a plush teddy bear. You can use any plush yarn for amigurumi, such as Himalaya Dolphin Baby, YarnArt Dolce, or others. You can also decorate the bear with a ribbon or crochet scarf if desired.

Materials and Tools

  • Plush yarn Himalaya Dolphin Baby (about 130g)
  • Yarn (acrylic/cotton blend, about 5g)
  • Hooks: 2 mm and 3.5 mm
  • Safety eyes for toys (18 mm)
  • Toy stuffing
  • Decoration
  • Needle for attaching parts
  • Scissors

Amigurumi Plush Teddy Bear Crochet Instructions

Feet (2 pieces)
Acrylic/cotton blend yarn, 2 mm hook:

  1. 6 sc in KA
  2. 6 inc = 12 sc
  3. (1 sc, inc) x 6 = 18 sc
  4. (2 sc, inc) x 6 = 24 sc
  5. (3 sc, inc) x 6 = 30 sc

Switch to Himalaya yarn, 2 mm hook:

  1. 30 sc
    Switch to Himalaya yarn, 3.5 mm hook:

  3. 7 sc, 3 dec, 7 sc = 22 sc
  4. 5 sc, 6 dec, 5 sc = 16 sc
    10-15. 16 sc (6 rows)

Cut the yarn from both feet, hide ends, and stuff with holofiber.

Body

  1. Position the feet as you want them to stand, pick one foot, and start crocheting 16 sc in the round from the inside. Continue around until you reach the starting point, then crochet 3 ch, join the feet, and continue crocheting the next round (16 sc on the other foot) = 42 sc

If there are too many stitches, make decreases until you reach the correct number; if there are too few, make increases in the next round.

Start with a chain + 6 ch:

From the second chain from the hook: 1 inc, 4 sc, 3 sc in one stitch, 5 sc
2 inc, 5 sc, 2 inc, 5 sc
3 inc, 6 sc, 3 inc, and continue with all sc until the end of the row
3 rows of sc

Assembly of the Toy
Please note that the head will be too large, so be sure to make some shaping on the cheeks so that the eyes settle at the correct height.
Sew the arms, ears, nose, and tail onto the body.
Embroider the nose, eyebrows, and the whites of the eyes.
Decorate as desired.
