With this pattern, you can crochet a cute teddy bear holding a heart. The bear is perfect as a Valentine’s Day gift or a thoughtful handmade present. Use any cotton blend yarn, such as Gazzal Baby Cotton, YarnArt Jeans, or Vita Coco.

Crochet Instructions

Head, Body, and Lower Legs (one piece)

Head:
Using the main color (Cappuccino), chain 15. Begin working in rounds:

Lower Legs:
Do not cut the yarn. Continue crocheting the left leg:

  1. Row 1: 17 sc, mark the last stitch. Count back 5 sc and work around the 5 stitches to form a circle. This will be the start of the row. (22)
    2-5. Rows 2-5: sc around. (22)
  2. Row 6: 5 sc, dec, 9 sc, dec, 4 sc. (20)
    7-8. Rows 7-8: sc around. (20)
  3. Row 9: (2 sc, dec) x 5. (15)

Close the opening and weave in the end.

For the right leg, count 5 sc from the left leg along the body. Join the yarn in the 6th stitch and repeat the instructions for the left leg. Stuff the body and legs, then sew the opening closed.


Upper Arms (make 2)

  1. Row 1: 6 sc in MR.
  2. Row 2: inc x 6. (12)
  3. Row 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6. (18)
    4-15. Rows 4-15: sc around. (18)

Stuff the arm, fold it flat, and sc through both sides to close. Leave a tail for sewing. Attach arms to the body between rows 15-22.


Ears (make 2)

  1. Row 1: 6 sc in MR.

Leave a tail for sewing. Sew the ears symmetrically to the top of the head.


Tummy Patch

Using beige yarn, crochet using both front and back loops:

  1. Chain 18, sc in the 2nd chain from the hook:
  • 16 sc, 3 sc in 1 stitch, 16 sc. (35)
  1. Turn, ch 1, work in back loops:
  • 16 sc, 3 inc, 16 sc. (38)
  1. Turn, ch 1, work in front loops:

  1. Turn, ch 1, work in back loops:

Leave a tail for sewing. Attach the patch to the body, centered between the legs, with the smooth side facing out.


Heart

Using red yarn:

  1. Row 1: 6 sc in MR.
  2. Row 2: inc x 6. (12)
  3. Row 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6. (18)
    4-5. Rows 4-5: sc around. (18)

Make 2 pieces. On the first piece, leave a tail for sewing. On the second piece, do not cut the yarn. Join the two pieces together:
