Amigurumi Northern Reindeer Free Pattern

This pattern allows you to crochet an adorable New Yearโ€™s reindeer wearing a Santa hat and a scarf. For amigurumi crochet, any plush yarn works well, such as Himalaya Dolphin Baby, Premier Parfait, or YarnArt Dolce. The accessories, including the hat and scarf, are also crocheted using plush yarn. The face is embroidered with matching thread. All crocheting is done in spirals.

Head (Brown Yarn)

  5. (2 SC, 1 increase) x 5, 2 SC (36)

Cut the yarn and stuff the head, focusing on the cheeks. Insert 12 mm safety eyes between rows 10 and 11, about 7 stitches apart.

You can embroider the cheeks with red yarn next to the eyes.


Body (Brown Yarn)

Start with the legs.

  2. 5 increases (10)
    3-4. 2 rows of 10 SC

For the first leg, cut the yarn. For the second leg, do not cut the yarn. Crochet 3 CH and attach to the first leg, then continue with the body.

  1. 10 SC, 3 SC along the chain, 10 SC, 3 SC along the chain (26)
  2. (3 SC, 1 increase) x 6 (32)
    7-12. 6 rows of 32 SC
  3. 7 SC, 1 decrease, 14 SC, 1 decrease, 7 SC (30)

Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing. Add more stuffing to the body to keep it nice and plump.


Tummy (Cream Yarn)

  1. Start with 5 CH and crochet into the first CH.
  2. 2 ะกะก2ะ, 2 ะกะกะ, 1 ะกะก2ะ, 2 ะกะกะ, 2 ะกะก2ะ, 4 CH, slip stitch.

Leave a long tail and sew it to the body.


Ears (Start with Brown Yarn)

  1. 4 SC in Kะ (4)
  2. 4 increases (8)
  3. Cream: 1 SC, 1 increase, 3 SC, 1 increase, 3 SC (12)
    4-5. 2 rows: cream: 3 SC, brown: 9 SC (12)
  4. Cream: 1 SC, 1 decrease, brown: (1 SC, 1 decrease) x 3 (8)

Cut the yarn and sew the ends together (as on the left ear). Attach the ears to the head between rows 4-7.


Horns (Dark Brown Yarn)

First Part:

  1. 4 SC in Kะ (4)
  2. 4 SC

Second Part:

  1. 6 SC in Kะ (6)
    2-4. 3 rows of 6 SC

Attach the second part to the first:

  1. 4 SC, 6 SC (10)
  2. (3 SC, 1 decrease) x 2 (8)
  3. 8 SC
  4. (2 SC, 1 decrease) x 2 (6)

Cut the yarn, leaving a tail and sew it between rows 4-5 of the head.


Arms (Brown Yarn)

  1. 8 SC in Kะ (8)
    2-7. 6 rows of 8 SC

Cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing.


Snout (Cream Yarn)

  1. 5 SC in Kะ (5)
  2. 5 increases (10)
  3. (1 SC, 1 increase) x 5 (15)
  4. 15 SC (15)

Cut the yarn, leaving a tail. Sew it between rows 10-13 of the head. Use red yarn to embroider the nose.


Santa Hat (Start with White Yarn)

  1. 4 SC in Kะ (4)
  2. 4 increases (8)
  3. 8 SC
  4. 4 decreases (4)
  5. Red: 4 increases (8)
  6. (1 SC, 1 increase) x 4 (12)
  7. (2 SC, 1 increase) x 4 (16)

  10. White: (1 SC + 2 CH) x 20

Finish and hide the yarn ends.


Scarf (Start with Red Yarn)

  1. 75 CH
  2. From the 2nd CH from the hook: red: 4 SC, white: 2 SC, repeat until the end.
