Free Crochet Pattern Chick Pi

Free Crochet Pattern: Chick Pi by Tnamtoys

This pattern allows you to crochet a small chick using plush yarn and a matching hook. The entire toy is crocheted in one piece, making it a quick and easy project. The beak and legs are embroidered using plush yarn. You can also turn the chick into a cute keychain!

Materials and Tools:

  • Plush Yarn: Yellow and pink
  • Crochet Hook: 4โ€“4.5 mm
  • Safety Eyes
  • Stuffing for toys
  • Stitch Markers
  • Tapestry Needle for sewing and embroidery
  • Scissors

Abbreviations:

  • MR: Magic ring
  • ch: Chain
  • sl st: Slip stitch
  • sc: Single crochet
  • inc: Increase (2 sc in one stitch)
  • dec: Decrease (single crochet 2 stitches together)
  • (โ€ฆ) x n: Repeat instructions in parentheses n times

Pattern Instructions:

  1. MR: 6 sc (6)
  2. Inc x 6 (12)
  3. (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
  4. 3 sc, ch 3, work 2 sc back along the chain (first wing), 10 sc, ch 3, work 2 sc back along the chain (second wing), 5 sc (18)
  5. (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12)
  6. Dec x 6 (6), sl st to close.

Important Notes:

  • When creating the wings and tail, ensure that the wing stitches are worked into the next stitch, not the same one. Start counting sc from the stitch immediately after the wing.
  • In the following round, crochet into the stitches before and after the wing; do not crochet into the wing itself. Fold the wing upward so it sits above the hook while crocheting.

Finishing:

  1. Stuff the chick lightly before closing the last round.
  2. Embroider the beak and legs using pink plush yarn.
  3. Attach safety eyes to the chick’s face.

Enjoy crocheting Chick Pi, and happy stitching! ๐Ÿฅ
