Step 4: Deglaze with Wine
- Pour the wine into the skillet, scraping the bottom of the pan to deglaze and release any browned bits.
- Let the wine simmer for 3-4 minutes, reducing slightly.
Step 5: Make the Sauce
- Add the diced tomatoes (with their juices), tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir to combine.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Step 6: Combine and Serve
- Return the cooked sausage to the skillet and mix well with the sauce.
- Add the cooked noodles to the skillet, tossing them gently to coat in the sauce. If the mixture seems too thick, you can add a splash of reserved pasta water to loosen it.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves and a generous sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately with an optional drizzle of olive oil for extra richness.
