Pocket Amigurumi Cow Crochet Pattern

This tiny pocket cow was designed by Lyudmila Timoshchuk. The original pattern uses a 1.75 mm crochet hook and Alize Cotton Gold yarn. The finished toy is approximately 6 cm tall with the recommended materials.

Materials and Tools

  • Alize Cotton Gold yarn in white (body), pink (muzzle and udder), beige (horns), and black (details)
  • 1.75 mm or 2.0 mm crochet hook
  • 3-5 mm half-beads for eyes (or black beads)
  • Polyester fiberfill for stuffing

Abbreviations

  • ch – Chain
  • sc – Single crochet
  • sl st – Slip stitch
  • inc – Increase (2 sc in one stitch)
  • dec – Decrease (crochet 2 stitches together)
  • (…) x n – Repeat instructions in parentheses n times
  • (…) – Total number of stitches in the round

Pocket Cow Crochet Instructions

Horns (Make 2)

Using beige or brown yarn:

  1. MR, 4 sc (4)
  2. (1 sc, inc) x 2 (6)
  3. 6 sc (6)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.


Muzzle

Using pink yarn:

  1. Ch 5, starting from the 2nd ch from the hook: 3 sc, 3 sc in the last ch. Continue on the other side: 2 sc, inc (10)
  2. inc, 2 sc, 3 inc, 2 sc, 2 inc (16)
    3-4. 16 sc (16)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.


Ears (Make 2)

You can use different colors for the ears:

  1. Ch 3, starting from the 2nd ch from the hook: inc, 1 sc, sl st in the same stitch.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.


Head

  1. MR, 6 sc (6)
  2. (inc) x 6 (12)
  3. (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
  4. (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
    5-10. 24 sc (24) — 6 rounds
  5. (dec) x 12 (12)
  6. (2 sc, dec) x 3 (9)

Stuff the head firmly and fasten off.


Arms (Make 2)

Start with black yarn:

  1. MR, 6 sc (6)
  2. 6 sc (6)

Switch to white yarn:
3-7. 6 sc (6) — 5 rounds

Fold the piece in half and crochet through both layers with 3 sc. Do not stuff. Leave a long tail for sewing.


Legs (Make 2)

Start with black yarn:

  1. MR, 6 sc (6)
  2. 6 sc (6)

Switch to white yarn:
3-4. 6 sc (6)

Fasten off for the first leg. Do not fasten off for the second leg; continue to the body.


Body

From the second leg:

  1. Ch 3, connect to the first leg. Crochet around: 6 sc on the first leg, 3 sc along the ch, 6 sc on the second leg, 3 sc along the ch (18)
  2. 4 sc, (inc, 1 sc) x 4 (belly), 3 sc, inc, 1 sc, inc (24)
    3-7. 24 sc (24) — 5 rounds
  3. (2 sc, dec) x 6 (18)
    9-10. 18 sc (18) — 2 rounds
  4. (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12)
  5. 12 sc (12)
  6. (2 sc, dec) x 3 (9)

Stuff firmly while crocheting. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing the head.


Udder

Using pink yarn:

  1. MR, 6 sc (6)
  2. (inc) x 6 (12)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Use the tail to embroider small bumps and sew the udder to the body.


Assembly and Details

  1. Sew the muzzle to the head between Rounds 6 and 11 of the head. Stuff the muzzle lightly, and embroider the nostrils and a smile with black thread.
  2. Sew the head to the body.
  3. Attach or glue the eyes above the muzzle, leaving 2-3 stitches between them.
  4. Sew the ears and horns to the head.
  5. Attach the arms to the body between Rounds 10-11.
  6. Use black thread to embroider spots on the body.
  7. For the tail, attach yarn to the back of the body, crochet a chain of 4-5 ch, and fasten off.
