
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 200ยฐC (400ยฐF) and grease a large baking dish or casserole pan with butter.
2. Prepare the Potatoes
- Boil the sliced potatoes in salted water for about 5-7 minutes, or until just tender but not fully cooked. Drain and set aside.
3. Cook the Sausage
- In a skillet, lightly fry the sausage slices over medium heat for about 3-5 minutes until browned and slightly crispy. Remove from heat and set aside.
4. Make the Cheese Sauce
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sautรฉ for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the heavy cream and milk. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Gradually add 1 ยฝ cups of shredded cheese, stirring until it melts completely into a smooth sauce. Season with smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper to taste.
5. Assemble the Casserole
- Layer half of the boiled potatoes at the bottom of the baking dish.
- Add half of the sausage slices on top.
- Pour half of the cheese sauce evenly over the layer.
- Repeat the layers: potatoes, sausage, and the remaining cheese sauce.
6. Top with Cheese and Bake
- Sprinkle the remaining ยฝ cup of shredded cheese evenly over the top.
- Place the casserole in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown on top.
7. Serve and Garnish
- Let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes after removing it from the oven.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
